Charleston Engagement Session | Taylor & Scott

I had the privilege of meeting Taylor and Scott while I was down South shooting a Lowndes Grove wedding. Taylor and Scott flew down from Northern Virginia for their Charleston engagement session and made a mini spring vacation out of their stay!

Their Love Story

Taylor and Scott’s love story began when they met as coworkers at their accounting firm. The two eventually fell in love and shared numerous adventures together. With their shared adoration for the South, this travel-loving couple visited Savannah, Georgia, where Scott got down on one knee in front of Forsyth Park fountain and asked Taylor to marry him. How romantic!

Charleston Engagement Session

After Taylor was pampered by Lashes & Lace for hair & makeup, I met up with the couple at the famous Mills House, where we started their downtown Charleston engagement session. Known for its quaint streets and historic side alleys, I knew the French Quarter would be the perfect spot to capture chic city street shots filled with endless charm. Charleston is so unbelievably charming; I could have photographed these two on every corner and in front of each house facade!

Hampton Park Engagement Photos

The second half of our session was inspired by their Forsyth Park proposal, in which we headed over to the ever-scenic Hampton Park. Taylor told me she wanted Spanish moss, and I knew this would be the perfect spot to make her Lowcountry engagement dreams come true! The canopy of moss-draped trees was undeniably enchanting—additionally, the gardens and pond made for picturesque backdrops for sunset portraits. Wait until you see the majestic, massive oak tree where we wrapped up the shoot!

For her Charleston engagement session, Taylor opted for two outfits that perfectly complimented the overall aesthetic of the shoot and locations. Her short white dress was chic and stylish for downtown, whereas her long floral dress was beautiful and romantic for Hampton Park.

I had a blast exploring one of my favorite cities for Taylor and Scott’s Charleston engagement session. They wanted photos that captured Charleston’s alluring atmosphere, and between these two locations and looks, we accomplished just that! By the end of the evening, we felt like long-time friends and clicked so well! I cannot wait to return to the Charleston area in 2024 to capture this sweet couple’s big day!

As a destination wedding photographer, I absolutely adore capturing my couples during their engagement sessions in special locations. Not only does it give us a great opportunity to connect, but it also allows the couple to pamper themselves and enjoy a magical date day (or even a vacation)! If you’re considering a destination wedding or portrait session in the Lowcountry or beyond, I’d love to connect with you!

love always Avery
