This blog post has been a long time coming! I have now photographed Emilie and Andy’s Valley Forge proposal, summer engagement session, and wedding. I cannot wait to share all of those images with you. But, I have to start their story from the beginning!
Their Love Story
Andy and Emilie first met on a rainy night in York, Pennsylvania in May 2019. While out for a night with friends, the two met by chance and hit it off right away! They talked all night, not knowing that fate had brought them together for a lifetime of love. After their first date night, Andy knew he had found the one he wanted to spend his life with, and the rest was history.
Proposal in Valley Forge National Park
The Planning
Andy first reached out to me in October of 2020 when he asked if he could propose at their upcoming couples session, and I could not have been more thrilled!
We talked back and forth to form the perfect plan to surprise Emilie and landed on a romantic Valley Forge proposal surrounded by the park’s fall colors. It is no surprise that many messages were shared back and forth with Andy leading up to the big day. From figuring out what to wear to sharing an image of the ring with me, Andy was so sweetly ecstatic to propose, and I was so honored to be included in his planning!
The Proposal
When we began the photo session, I posed Emilie and Andy for a few images. Then, I prompted the two to share why they loved one another. After Andy professed his love to Emilie, he dropped to one knee and popped the question underneath the National Memorial Arch, which was a perfect backdrop for such a monumental moment with its grand, classical architecture and surrounding vibrant fall foliage.
Emilie was completely surprised! She beamed with elation and excitement for the rest of the evening. After the proposal, we continued our now engagement session while the two were on cloud 9. To wrap up the session, Emilie and Andy popped champagne before heading to a romantic dinner to continue their celebrations.
Cherishing Life Moments
A few weeks after their Valley Forge proposal, Andy and Emilie asked me the big question that any proposal photographer looks forward to hearing, to be their wedding photographer! I was so privileged and thrilled to be asked to capture the most cherished moments of their love story. Just wait until you see their engagement session we planned for the following summer… Spoiler alert: we returned to Valley Forge National Park, and it was so special!
