Fairmount Park Engagement Session | Bryanna & Brandon

Like many modern couples, Brandon and Bryanna met by swiping right! He won her over with a home-run line, and the two hit it off as they connected on Tinder before meeting in person. A house and two years of dating later, Brandon and Bryanna landed in my inbox after a romantic proposal. The newly engaged couple was looking to plan their Fairmount Park Engagement Session and Windows on the Water wedding in May 2023 (be sure to check back in the spring to see photos of their wedding!).

The Proposal

After dating for two years, Bryanna and Brandon bought their first home together. While Brandon had planned to pop the question on a beach nearby their new home, it poured rain that morning. So instead, Bryanna woke up to a trail of rose petals which led her from their bedroom and down the staircase. Downstairs, she was greeted with more petals and candles in the shape of a heart, with Brandon standing in the center. After professing his love and asking Bryanna to marry him, she said yes!

Over coffee, the two celebrated in their new home and excitedly chatted over the details that led up to the big moment. Afterward, Bryanna and Brandon headed to his parents’ house, where Brandon surprised Bryanna yet again — Both of their parents and all of their friends were there to celebrate with them!

Fairmount Park Engagement Session

Bryanna and Brandon’s session was initially scheduled for the first week of April, as they had hoped to have their engagement session during cherry blossom season in Philadelphia. However, April weather is unpredictable, and we had to change our original plans due to rain (sound familiar?).

Ultimately, we chose to do a Fairmount Park engagement session in late April instead. Unfortunately, because our shoot had to be pushed to later in the month, the beautiful cherry blossom blooms were all gone. However, we were lucky to spot a pink dogwood tree in a nearby parking lot and made magic happen with the few remaining flowers.

Would you believe me if I told you that half of Bryanna and Brandon’s session was spent outside a children’s museum? It’s one of my favorite engagement session locations in Philadelphia because the exterior of the building reminds me of European architecture. Right around the corner from the Please Touch Museum is the Smith Memorial Arch, another monument that reminds me of my travels through Europe with its columns and statues.

Engagement Photoshoot Outfit Inspiration

During their engagement photoshoot, Bryanna and Brandon chose to wear two different outfits. Their first outfit of the session was more casual, while their second outfit was dressy. I think it’s fun to go this route as it allows me to capture the couple in a way that reflects their style and who they are daily. Doing the casual outfit first also allows the couple time to get comfortable in front of the camera. I always recommend at least one formal outfit too, as being engaged and capturing this special season is something totally worth dressing up for! One of my favorite benefits of doing the dressier outfit second is that the couple can then head off to a nice dinner afterward and continue celebrating!

I believe the engagement session paired with a romantic dinner to follow is the perfect way to spend some quality time with one another. In addition, it is a great opportunity to step away from the busyness of work and wedding planning.

If you are recently engaged and looking for a Philadelphia engagement photographer to capture your love, I’d be honored to help you! Check out some of my recent engagement sessions here, and be sure to reach out to tell me more about you and your fiancé!
