I had the absolute honor of capturing Katie and John’s stunning wedding on arguably the most popular wedding date of the year: 10.10.2020. Getting to know Katie and John and learn more about them during our time working together was such a joy, and they quickly felt like friends I’d known for years. The two Philadelphia Eagles fans love traveling abroad, spending time enjoying the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ (like many Philly natives!), and loving on their pup, Tucker, who they included in their wedding celebration at Radnor Valley Country Club!
You certainly can’t go wrong with a country club venue in the Philadelphia suburbs, but this one was spectacular! Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova is centered around a gorgeous 1907 Main Line mansion with grand interior rooms and numerous garden areas outdoors. Although Katie and John’s wedding took place in the middle of autumn, their celebration felt like spring. Not only was the weather amazing for mid-October, but all of the insanely beautiful pastel blooms and floral arrangements brought color and life to everything.
Katie and I definitely share the belief that blush is a neutral color. She chose a soft and romantic color palette with blushes, whites, and greenery. Luckily for Katie, her father is a florist and he designed practically everything you will see in the photos below. All the romantic setups, decor, and florals that wowed every guest and vendor was all the incredible work of Farrell’s Florist! It was breathtakingly magical. Having such intimate details of her wedding designed by her father was so special and sentimental for Katie.
Not only did Katie’s father design the beautiful wedding in all its floral glory, but he also gave one of the most heartfelt, memorable speeches I have ever heard at a wedding. He shared this story, one I’m sure to remember for the rest of my career: When Katie was a young girl, their family went to visit Santa Claus during Christmastime. When she noticed that Santa wasn’t wearing a watch, little Katie insisted on going to the store to buy him one with her own money. Then, she wrapped the watch herself in red tissue paper and left it out for Santa on Christmas Eve. To make it appear that Santa had received his present from her, Katie’s father took the gift and hid it. He kept the watch hidden for years, through house moves and all, but he didn’t tell a soul. He knew that one day, he would wear that watch on his compassionate baby girl’s wedding day. After his speech, he took the watch off and gave it to his new son-in-law, John. There was not a dry eye! My goodness, just wait until you see the photos below!
Photographing Katie and John’s Radnor Valley Country Club Wedding was such an honor. Everything about their day was enchanting, most of all, the couple themselves. Thank you so much, Katie and John! I adore you guys and your families, and photographing your wedding was a dream. Your love story is one for the ages!
A love note from Katie & John:
“If you are a bride looking for a wedding photographer, stop what you’re doing and email Avery to make sure you can lock in your date. I cannot speak highly enough of her. Not only is Avery’s work incredible, but she was extremely flexible during COVID as our plans changed multiple times (in addition to being compassionate of our situation). We could not be happier with our choice to use Avery as our wedding photographer. Her communication skills, cheery personality, attention to detail, dedication to get the perfect shot, along with the time & effort she spends editing the photos to perfection – were just a few of the reasons that made her so special. Avery was completely receptive of our ideas and listened to what was important for us to capture the day of our wedding. Please take it from someone who had an excel spreadsheet of 20+ photographers in the tri-state area. You do not need to look any further than Always Avery Photography. We are so thankful we found Avery and hope to use her in the future for any family photography we may need.”
